OSO — A Marysville area man found dead in the river near Oso last week has been identified.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner said Tuesday that Thomas Delazzari, 71, died from accidental drowning in the North Fork Stillaguamish River.
His family became concerned when he failed to show up for dinner Jan. 19 as planned. Earlier in the day, Delazzari had told a family member that he was heading toward Oso to check on fishing conditions in the river.
After family members confirmed the man was not at his home, Marysville police entered details about him and his vehicle into a database of missing persons. The vehicle was found a few hours later.
His body was found Jan. 21 by a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office helicopter team. A sheriff’s water rescue team recovered the body the same day.
