BRIER — The new playground equipment is ready at Brier Park.
Mayor Bob Colinas took his grandchildren to check out the improvements on a recent nice day.
“It was packed over there,” he said. “There were probably 30 people, parents and children playing.”
The new playground has a pirate theme, in line with the city’s annual SeaScare parade, Colinas said. There are a pirate ship, slides, swings and a glider.
The final pieces for the swings had been on back order for awhile. Now, the project is complete.
The park improvements are part of an ongoing effort in Brier to offer outdoors experiences, and promote health and fitness, Colinas said.
The city also hopes to pave some existing trails at Brier Park to improve access later this year.
The playground improvements cost about $95,000. The previous equipment was more than 20 years old. The park is at 2903 228th St. SW.
