Trio of swimmers lead Kamiak boys to 87th straight win

MUKILTEO — The Shorewood boys swim team gave it their best shot, but there was no denying Kamiak and an 87th straight meet win on Tuesday.
Kamiak’s top three swimmers of Shelby Lee, Eben Schumann and Henry Limm combined for eight of the nine event wins for the Knights, which beat the Thunderbirds 105-80.
“The (winning) streak is fun and exciting, but we got to live with it too,” Kamiak head coach Chris Erickson said. “There is extra pressure ... but it’s good practice dealing with pressure.”
Individually, Lee, Schumann and Limm won two events each. The trio also swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams. With Daniel Carey swimming the third leg, the 400 freestyle team turned in a blistering time of 3 minutes, 19.66 seconds, almost 7 seconds under the 4A state-qualifying time for the state meet. The mark also bested the Kamiak team’s own top-ranked 4A state time of 3:19.99 set earlier this season.
Tore Landboe (500 freestyle) and Andrew Garrison (100 breaststroke) recorded the two Shorewood individual wins and the pair, along with Galen Kintner and Jack Allen, earned first place in the 200 freestyle relay.
