Prep wrestling: Kamiak 37, Edmonds-Woodway 28

KAMIAK — A season after a one-point loss to Edmonds-Woodway cost the Kamiak wrestling team a share of the league title, the Knights made sure a different result occurred on Thursday.
This time Kamiak earned a 37-28 win over the Warriors, which, combined with Lynnwood’s loss to Cascade, made the Knights the outright Wesco 4A South champions.
“It’s been five years since we had a Wesco South title, it’s nice to be back,” Knights head coach Bryan Stelling said. “It was a great feeling, the kids deserved it, they really improved as the season went on.”
According to Stelling, two swing matches went decisively in the Knights’ favor to secure the win. At 182 pounds, Connor Mitchell pinned Jonah Perez and heavyweight Tanner Kunard did the same to the Warriors’ Cole Akers.
