TACOMA — The chief economist for Russell Investments, Mike Dueker (DOOK’-er), has been found dead at Tacoma.
Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says an officer found his body about 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the base of a 40- to 50-foot embankment for a Highway 16 ramp to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Troyer says it appears Dueker jumped over a 4-foot fence Wednesday and took his own life. Troyer says he had issues at work.
A spokeswoman for Russell Investments in Seattle, Jennifer Tice, says colleagues are deeply saddened. Tice says Dueker was highly respected at Russell and the broader financial service industry. Tice says she can’t speculate on any issues Dueker had.
The 50-year-old University Place man worked at the Seattle-based company for five years forecasting the business cycle.
