Hunters there before houses

I could not believe the letter to the editor, “Limits needed near residences,” which said it was not surprising that someone shot at a duck hunter off Warm Beach because the hunters were “disturbing their high-priced peace and quiet” of the homeowners along the beach. She goes on to say that since everyone now owns a gun that the hunters need to beware. I would venture to remind this letter writer that ducks were being hunted in this area for decades before the high priced homes were placed there. Just because the duck hunting disturbs the “peace and quiet” would never, under any circumstances, justify shooting a hunter ... period. The attitude expressed by this writer is the same as those expressed by folks who knowingly move into a neighborhood next to a gun range, or airport, or any number of venues which has been there for decades, and then start complaining about how said activities disturb their peace and quiet. Give me a break.
