PORTLAND, Ore. — A Marine who stepped on a hidden explosive device while helping a wounded comrade in Afghanistan is coming home.
The East Oregonian reported that Lance Cpl. Casey Allison lost his right leg below the knee and both the pinky and ring finger on his left hand in the Jan. 28 blast. He was five months into his second deployment.
He is a 2010 Hermiston (Ore.) High School graduate with a wife and daughter, who was born after he left for Afghanistan.
In a Facebook post, he said he can’t wait to see them.
His travel plans are classified.
