The Sasquatch folks have outdone themselves this year. Every year people talk about what’s better — Sasquatch or some other festival. This year all of the talk is going to be about which weekend of Sasquatch is better, Memorial Day or the 4th of July?
First of all, the lineup party was great as always. I have never seen St. Lucia before and they really set the crowd off at the Neptune last night. It will be exciting to see them again at The Gorge. The Cold War Kids were absolutely fantastic and a great way to close out the night after the exciting lineup news came out. They are a must see on Memorial day weekend.
The host of this year’s lineup party wasn’t my main man Luke Burbank, but The Long Winters frontman John Roderick did a pretty great job. He even threw handfuls of Skittles into the crowd to celebrate the big Seahawks win.
Now onto the important stuff. I went into the Sasquatch lineup party with lots of hopes and dreams about who would be announced and Sasquatch delivered in a monster way. The two big headliners are Outkast and Soundgarden. You can almost just stop right there. But then it got better.
Each weekend is completely stacked with huge names like Kid Cudi, Queens Of The Stoneage, The National, Frank Ocean, Neutral Milk Hotel, Spoon, Cage The Elephant and so many more.
On top of all the great household names playing Sasquatch this year the list of local bands representing Seattle and even Everett is really something to be excited about. Everett’s own Mary Lambert and The Moondoggies are both on the lineup. Seattle bands The Grizzled Mighty, Fly Moon Royalty, Shelby Earl, The Flavr Blue, Hobosexual, Iska Dhaaf, La Luz, Kithkin, Raz Simone and more will all be there are well.
So now the hard part: If you are only able to attend one weekend, which do you choose? It’s a tough one because there is something for everyone on each weekend. Below is the lineup breakdown for each weekend and the hilarious Sasquatch announcement video. Tickets go on sale this Saturday. Choose wisely.
