Position opens on Lynnwood water district commission
George, 76, of Bothell, worked for the district for 23 years. He retired in 2000 and later served as a commissioner for another 12 years.
A farewell reception was held in late January, and George was given a commemorative plaque, district spokesman Mike Pivec said Wednesday. George resigned earlier this month for personal reasons.
The water district is seeking applicants for the vacant commissioner position.
The appointed commissioner will serve two years and can run for election in 2015.
The five-member board sets policies and staff direction for the water district. Elected commissioners serve six-year terms.
Applicants must be registered voters who live in the district, which covers much of southwest Snohomish County. Commissioners are paid $114 per meeting. The board generally meets at 5 p.m. Mondays at district headquarters in Lynnwood.
Applicants must submit a letter of interest by Feb. 21, a summary of their qualifications and their personal contact information to ATTN: Board, 3626 156th St. SW, Lynnwood. For more information, call Pivec at 425-741-7921.
