PUYALLUP — Police here say a 13-year-old boy has died in what they’re investigating as an unintentional shooting by a friend.
The News Tribune reports the Pierce County medical examiner’s office has identified the dead boy as Eddie Holmes of Puyallup.
Police Capt. Scott Engle says officers responded to a home Thursday and found a boy trying to help the 13-year-old victim, who had been shot in the chest. The teen died later at a hospital.
Police say several boys ranging in age from 12 to 14 were at the home after school when the boy who lived there pulled out a shotgun to show to the others, all of whom were friends. That boy gave the gun to another boy. Engle says the 13-year-old victim was shot a short time later.
Engle said a 13-year-old boy was being booked into juvenile detention for investigation of manslaughter.
