BOULDER, Colo. — A 45-year-old man accused of going on a drunken horseback ride through Boulder while on his way to his brother’s wedding in Utah failed to appear at a court hearing, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The Daily Camera reports that Patrick Schumacher, of Colorado Springs, failed to appear at a hearing in Boulder on Friday.
University of Colorado police said witnesses saw him hit his horse and occasionally wander into traffic near the school on Sept. 9. He faces several charges, including animal cruelty and being drunk while possessing a gun.
Police said Schumacher had a small pug in his backpack, as well as beer cans and a black-powder pistol in his saddlebag. He was traveling from Larkspur, Colo., to Bryce, Utah — a 600-mile journey.
