Tuesday is the 113th anniversary of the Everett Daily Herald’s first edition. That first Herald offered “free copies for examination,” sent to every home in the city.
“If you wish to be loyal to your city, to see its best interests zealously prompted, to assist in its development by giving your influence in the proper direction” it said, “you should have the Herald for a daily visitor.” Luckily enough of you have followed that advice to keep us going for 113 years and counting.
To celebrate our birthday, let’s get in our way-back machine and look at some historical photos of the newspaper’s early days.
And to read more of that first Herald, you can find the Feb. 11, 1901, edition in our collection of historic front pages.
