Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York wants case information from Fort Hood in Texas, Naval Air Station Norfolk in Virginia, the Marine Corps’ Camp Pendleton in California, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
Gillibrand made the request in a letter Monday to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
AP’s investigation, which was based on internal military documents it first requested in 2009, found a pattern of inconsistent judgments and light penalties at bases in Japan.
Gillibrand, who’s led efforts in Congress to address military sexual crimes, told Hagel she expects a more timely response.
