    Harlem Globetrotter Firefly Fisher places a spinning ball on the extended index finger of 3-year-old Freyja King at the Imagine Children's Museum in Everett. The Globetrotters will perform on Sunday in Everett.

Shakaroo: A benefit concert for the Everett Animal Shelter is 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave. Tickets are $20 each and are available in advance or at the door. Nigel Mustafa will perform reggae and rock. The evening includes a pooch parade with 20 adoptable dogs and an intermission during which people can meet the dogs. Get more info here.
Free fresh air: It's a good weekend to head outdoors, thanks to the presidents of the United States. Because of Monday's holiday, Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest parks and trails as well as Mount Rainier and Olympic national parks are free all weekend.
Birds: Learn about attracting birds to your back yard through gardening choices, nest boxes and water features. Master birder Neil Zimmerman will speak at 7 p.m. Friday in Everett. Get more info here.
Fishing: A fly fishing show is Saturday and Sunday at the Lynnwood Convention Center. There will be casting and fly-tying demonstrations, films and gear. The 2014 International Fly Fishing Film Festival is on Sunday. Get more information here.
Search: The Great Northwest Glass Quest begins today in the Stanwood-Camano Island area. If you find a clueball and return it to the location listed inside, you'll get a piece of hand-made glass art.
