“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”: The torch has been passed. Former “Saturday Night Live” funnyman and “Late Night” headliner Jimmy Fallon gets his shot at the big leagues.

Would you allow your daughter to date someone from another planet? The new drama “Star-Crossed” follows a Romeo and Juliet-like romance between a human girl (Aimee Teegarden) and an alien boy (Matt Lanter), amid a great deal of disapproval. 8 p.m., The CW.
“Generation Like” is an intriguing new installment from “Frontline.” It examines how marketers use social media to build relationships with teenagers, while collecting valuable data. 10 p.m., KCTS.
The latest episode of “Restaurant Takeover” is called “Hillbilly Heaven” and the key thing is that the eatery in question has road kill on the menu. 8 p.m., Food Network.
Brace yourself for lots of gushing from James Lipton. Tonight’s “Inside the Actor’s Studio” is devoted to Oscar nominee Matthew McConaughey. 8 p.m., Bravo.
“Sting: The Last Ship” is the latest offering from “Great Performances.” It has the pop star, backed by a 14-piece band, performing songs from his 2013 album. 9 p.m., KCTS.
“About a Boy,” a new comedy based on the Nick Hornby novel and Hugh Grant movie, gets a sneak peek tonight. The cast includes by David Walton, Minnie Driver and Benjamin Stockham. 11 p.m., NBC.
