MONROE — A mask-wearing robber tied up an employee at the Buzz Inn Steakhouse early Saturday morning, then robbed the businesses of an undetermined amount of money, according to Monroe police.
Other employees arrived at the restaurant, which is in the 18900 block of U.S. 2, about 5 a.m. and found the employee tied up with zip ties in the hallway outside the men’s restroom.
The man, 69, from Monroe, said he was cleaning the restaurant when he was confronted by a man with a handgun, according to police. The employee was tied up and left in the men’s restroom. The man said he was able to make his way out of the restroom into the hallway, where he lay for about an hour before being discovered by the restaurant’s morning employees. The man had some small cuts to his hands from the zip ties.
The employees also discovered that the door to the business office was open and money had been taken from a safe.
The robber is described as a man about 5-feet, 6-inches tall wearing a yellow-and-black coat and a black mask. The police department is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information may call the police department at 360-794-6300 or its anonymous tip line at 360-863-4600.
