Quick thoughts:
- Aside from Everett Community College (which obviously hosts many of the local teams), Kent Meridian and Mt. Tahoma High Schools seem to be the place to be for local hoops fans.
Saturday at Kent Meridian features Stanwood boys and Edmonds-Woodway girls in back-to-back games, while Mountlake Terrace fans might want to hurry and book a hotel in Tacoma, with the Hawks’ girls playing on Friday night and the boys Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Fun fact: it’s 52.4 miles from Mountlake Terrace High School to Mt. Tahoma High School.
- Everett Community College is a good place to post up this weekend and catch some great local teams try to get to the Tacoma Dome.
The Friday night doubleheader features District 1/2/3 No. 1 seed Tulalip Heritage taking on Wilbur-Creston at 6 p.m., followed by District 1 No. 1 Jackson vs. Stadium at 8 p.m.
Saturday should be fun too, with the Lynnwood girls – the District 1 No. 1 seed – playing Bellarmine Prep at 2 p.m., with the LaConner girls and Napavine playing at 4 p.m. and Glacier Peak taking on Mercer Island at 6 p.m.
It’s hard to put a price on great high school basketball, but if it’s under $32 to attend the two days at Everett Community College it definitely seems worth it. I say $32, because that’s about how much money is currently in my bank account, and I would happily spend it to watch these teams play.
