The collision was reported at 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes, just south of 220th Street SW. An Everett man, 20, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu when he struck the state transportation pickup, according to a Washington State Patrol memo.
The Chevrolet driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center, along with one of his passengers, a 21-year-old Marysville man. A second passenger, 17, of Marysville, suffered less serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The Chevrolet driver was listed Monday in serious condition at Harborview’s intensive care unit. The passenger who went to Harborview was treated and released from the emergency room, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The pickup driver was not seriously hurt. The collision did not involve the street sweeper. The pickup was parked on the left shoulder behind the sweeper when the Chevy reportedly swerved into the back of the truck. Troopers are investigating.
