LAKE ROESIGER — The woman repeatedly called for help, hoping neighbors near her rural home might hear her cries.
Her throat grew hoarse with each plea.
For nearly three days, she could not move on her own.
When an aid crew eventually was called to the home, they found the woman with a black eye and a broken leg lying on a couch in the master bedroom.
Her husband, Shaun T. Horn, 58, was arrested for investigation of assault, interfering with reporting a domestic violence assault and unlawful imprisonment. A court commissioner ordered him held on $100,000 bail over the weekend.
The woman, 51, told Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies that she suffered the injuries around 1 a.m. Feb. 19 after an argument in their bedroom.
When deputies got to the home late Friday, they reported the woman’s left shin appeared to have a slight curve. There was an orange-brown blister on her leg.
“Help!” she reportedly said to deputies. “He wouldn’t let me call. I need help!”
The woman said her husband hit her in the face about 10 times after she took his cellphone, which was broken in the scuffle.
She said he lunged toward her and fell on top of her with one leg on top of the other.
“She said she heard a snap and felt pain,” deputies wrote in a report to establish probable cause for Horn’s arrest.
The woman said she sat on the floor for hours unable to move and told Horn she was sure her leg was broken and that he should call for aid.
Horn allegedly took her cellphone and refused to call, stating that her leg was swollen and the swelling would go down.
She allegedly told him that she would tell authorities that she fell and got the black eye from hitting her head on the corner of a table, but that story didn’t convince him to get help.
The woman also told deputies that she tried yelling to the neighbors for help. She couldn’t get off the couch because of her injury.
Late on the third day, Horn called 911 to get her help. He allegedly told a 911 dispatcher that the leg was broken during a fight three days earlier.
The woman was taken to the hospital.
