Animal cruelty

Abuse cannot be tolerated

I felt so sick when I read the second article in the Herald about the tragic death of the poor little dog, Romeo. (“Cruelty charged in dog’s death”). It is inconceivable to me that the owner left her dog with the boyfriend knowing how he felt toward him. Who knows how many times Romeo was treated badly before he was beaten to death. Also, how could people who were there that night and knew what was going on, simply walk away? They bear as much responsibility for the dog’s death as the owner.
We need to send the message that any cruelty toward animals will not be tolerated.
