Facebook message prompted stabbings, suspect allegedly says

EVERETT — Deputies heard screams as they reached the door in the Lynnwood-area mobile home park.

The frantic woman held a small child early Thursday morning. Both were covered in blood.

She directed deputies to a bedroom where they found two injured men holding down a third man. Both had been stabbed.

“I think my roommate is possessed,” she reportedly told the officers. “He stabbed me and the others.”

Detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are trying to unravel what led up to the multiple stabbings that sent three roommates to the hospital and the suspect to jail.

Luis Daniel Rodriguez Chacon, 23, was arrested for investigation of three counts of first-degree domestic violence assault. His bail was set at $500,000 on Friday.

Inside the home, the suspect reportedly said he attacked his roommate out of desperation.

“I need to tell you something,” Rodriguez Chacon allegedly told a deputy. “I received a message by Facebook telling me I had one week to kill (his roommate) or my family in Mexico would be killed. Today is the last day.”

Detectives aren’t discussing the veracity of the suspect’s alleged statement because the case remains under investigation, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Friday.

Deputies found a large blood-stained butcher knife inside a microwave oven in the kitchen of the home.

The woman, 29, was taken to a hospital for treatment of a knife wound to her neck.

The two men, whose ages were not available, were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. One was stabbed in the chest and face; the other was stabbed in the cheek. All three are expected to survive.

Two other people — a woman and her 10-year-old daughter — also were in the home at the time of the attack. They said they heard a commotion but stayed in their bedroom and did not see anything, court papers said.

Deputies took the suspect’s bloodied clothing, including garden gloves, as evidence.

The man who was stabbed in the chest and face told deputies that he was in bed with his girlfriend and their 2-year-old son when his roommate — who he knew as Daniel — came in. He said he woke up as he was being stabbed.

“He said he told Daniel to stop and tried to fight back,” detectives wrote in court papers. “He stated the only thing Daniel was saying at the time was ‘I’m not Daniel. I’m not Daniel.’”

The woman told deputies that she was stabbed in the neck as she jumped out of bed and tried to get her baby out of the room.
