Taxes for most homeowners are set to increase by an average of 4.4 percent. That owes largely to the fact that voters approved five of six tax proposals on the ballot in 2013. The new levies apply to emergency medical services, a hospital district and a school district.
The exceptions are Darrington and Index, where average property tax bills are set to drop. Those are also the only two places in the county where assessed home values fell during the 2014 tax year. Property tax bills in Granite Falls also show a slight average decrease, though by less than a half-percent.
The total value of taxable property for Snohomish County increased more than 9 percent in 2014 to $79.4 billion, from $72.6 billion last year.
