The Snohomish fire district recently added this 2013 Spartan fire engine to its fleet. A traditional arrival ceremonythat included a “push in” was held in February.

SNOHOMISH — A traditional ceremony marked the arrival of a new fire engine in Snohomish on Feb. 18.
The 2013 Spartan fire engine came from South Dakota and cost $433,000, according to Snohomish County Fire District 4 in Snohomish.
It replaced a 1995 International engine that will become a reserve vehicle.
The ceremony, called a “push in,” has firefighters hand-pushing a new vehicle backward into the fire station. The ceremony dates back to when fire departments used horse-drawn rigs.
The engine will be assigned to the Three Lakes Station, 6724 171st Ave. SE.
