The Pacific Crest Trail is calling to me. It’s been a quiet voice in the back of my mind for a long time. It started as a whisper. Now it’s more like a scream. I’m entranced by the idea of hiking from Mexico to Canada.
I won’t be doing it this year. (Has anyone every hiked the PCT with a 3-year-old?) So, while I’m dreaming a scheming until I actually can do the trail, let me share my obsession with you.
First up, this couple took a photo of their tent every night on the PCT. Great montage. And fabulous music.

Here’s a hiker, Kolby Kirk, who made a montage of himself along the trail. He lost 90 pounds on the trail. (Watch it to the end.) Kirk also did the illustrations for the documentary “Mile … Mile &A Half” about the John Muir Trail.

Speaking of “Mile … Mile &A Half,” it’s a great documentary. I’ll have a review of it next week. In the meantime, here’s a trailer.
Finally, here’s a (long) video of Cheryl Strayed, author of “Wild,” speaking and reading. In “Wild,” Strayed documents her trip on the PCT. (If you skip ahead to 10 minutes you’ll hear her read the funniest part of the entire book. Seriously, I read it before falling asleep and laughed so hard, I woke up my husband.)
I’ve read “Wild” and enjoyed it. I also recommend “I Promise Not to Suffer.”
