50 years ago (1964)
Checking over preparations for the spaghetti dinner to be held next week at Roosevelt School were Pauline Chistianson, PTA president; June Bartley, Blood Bank chair; and George Hill, ways and means chair.
Tree members of the Snohomish High School band, named this week as members of the United States of America High School Band to play at the New York Fair, were Dan Dunbar, percussion; Virginia Bartelheimer, flute; and Bill Holt, trombone. The three would join Ann Gilmore of Everett to represent this area at the fair.
25 years ago (1989)
Among Everettites mentioned in the “Notebook” column were Kevin Mackey who had earned a doctorial degree from Michigan State University, Barbara Trenchi who was presented with the American Lung Association’s 2000 Club for her efforts in fundraising, and Cletus Skrabak who had been commissioned as an ensign officer in the Naval Reserve.
Student Betsy Baker mixed chemicals during an experiment in Everett High School’s new state-of-the-art high-technology science facility. Classmate Rolf Dagg worked on a chemistry project. Another student, Andy Skotdal, said it was like stepping into the future and that he was taking more science classes.
