The search initially was triggered by the theft of an iPad from the AT&T Wireless store in Arlington on Thursday evening.
The device was turned on around 9:30 p.m., which alerted company officials to its location, Arlington police spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. The company, in turn, called police.
No arrests have been made, although the investigation is ongoing, Banfield said.
