“Four score and seven years ago our fathers … uh … ”
That’s the easy part of the Gettysburg Address. Do you know the rest?
That’s OK. Most people don’t, but soon they might. Filmmaker Ken Burns is challenging Americans to learn the famous speech Abraham Lincoln delivered 150 years ago. Burns is releasing a new documentary to mark the anniversary.
You don’t have to know what “four score” is (it’s a funny way of saying 80). Shoot a video of your recitation of the Gettysburg Address for a chance to be part of a compilation shown at a KCTS-TV History Cafe on April 17 at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle. The videos will also be published on the station’s YouTube channel and the National Learn the Address video gallery.
The deadline is March 24. For more information, go to www.kcts9.org.
