One of the funnier new comedies, “Surviving Jack,” arrives March 27 on Fox.
It stars Christopher Meloni, late of “Law &Order: SVU.”
Meloni says he didn’t really want to be an actor when he was young.
“I’d see high school kids who were in drama, and I didn’t want to be in a clique, and I remember seeing those same kids in college.
“I remember they were doing the play, ‘Bent,’ granted, it’s a very difficult play. I’d see the kids in the play hanging out in the quad area. They were making sure everyone knew how cool and aloof they were,” Meloni said.
“I sort of looked at them and said, ‘I don’t want to be that either.”
Meanwhile, on March 26, bid adios to Dule Hill as the reluctant sidekick on USA’s “Psych,” when the show ends.
It’s been eight years since Hill left “West Wing” to take on the comic part of Gus Guster, who finds himself constantly pulling a con orchestrated by his partner, Shawn Spencer, played by James Roday.
But when Hill first read the script he didn’t want to do it. “I thought my character was too much of a nerd,” Hill said.
But he agreed to do the pilot, finished ‘West Wing’ and a week later went to Vancouver to work on “Psych.”
