The blue-gray branches are accentuated in the spring by tips of reddish-violet pollen cones. The color contrast is striking.
It is commonly called blue Spanish fir and earned the coveted Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
Sun or shade: Pinsapo glauca grows best in full sun.
Size: This tree is a very slow grower, and will eventually reach 15 feet in height and 7 feet in width. Over many decades, it will reach 60 feet high by 30 feet wide.
