LAKEWOOD — A new Lakewood elementary school will be named Four Heroes Elementary to honor four police officers who were killed in an ambush in 2009.
The News Tribune reports the school will be visible from the police station, which also has a memorial to the fallen officers.
Sgt. Mark Renninger and officers Tina Griswold, Gregory Richards and Ronald Owens were killed on Nov. 29, 2009, in a Parkland coffee shop. Their killer was shot and killed a couple of days later in a confrontation with a Seattle officer.
