Sandifer pitches Snohomish baseball to win over Eastlake
“Sandifer was dominating today,” Snohomish head coach Kim Hammons said. “He gave up one hit, struck out six, no walks ... he looked very good today.”
The Panthers scored their one run of the game in the fifth inning. With two outs, Nolan Smith drew a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on a single by Brad Morgan. Smith then scored after a ground ball hit off the shortstops glove and bounced into right field.
“If the shortstop makes that play, we may still be playing into the night,” Hammons said with a laugh.
Haakon Lande went 2-for-2 with two singles to lead the Panthers, who managed just four hits on the afternoon.
“Lande really had a good day,” Hammons said. “He hit a couple hard shots and he had a very good eye at the plate.”
Friday’s win improved the Panthers to 2-0 on the season. Snohomish will face off against rival Glacier Peak in another nonleague game on Saturday.
“Our confidence level is very good,” Hammons said of his ballclub. “Glacier Peak is always a big game so we are focused on that.”
