ARLINGTON — Archbishop Murphy’s Tyler Ptacek and Jensen Crisler each scored a goal and the Wildcats defense posted a second consecutive shutout after blanking Lakewood 2-0 on Tuesday.
The visitors got off to a good start in the Cascade Conference match when Ptacek’s header in the fourth minute found the back of the net after a corner kick taken by Keegan McAdam.
Crisler doubled Archbishop Murphy’s advantage and clinched the game when he slotted home James Bettag’s low cross at the back post in the 67th minute.
After giving up two goals in the season opener against Marysville Pilchuck, Wildcats head coach Mike Bartley was pleased with his team’s defensive execution against a counter-attacking Lakewood side and Cougars star Randy Anaya.
“Our defense played great, it’s one of our strengths,” Wildcats head coach Mike Bartley said. “They counter attack well, that’s what we played for. I thought we did a good job to take away (long diagonal passes) … and we made sure we got (two defenders on Anaya).”
