Prep baseball: Cascade 4, Stanwood 0

STANWOOD — Cascade pitchers K.J. Brady and Bryson Blackmore combined on a one-hitter as the Bruins shut out Stanwood 4-0 on Tuesday in a nonleague game.
Brady threw the first six innings with seven strikeouts and one walk before giving way to Blackmore in the seventh.
“He had all three pitches working,” Bruins head coach Scott Stencil said about his starter. “He was changing speeds, locating and working ahead. He did a really good job of keeping them off balance.”
Brady also helped himself at the plate. The senior tripled in the first inning and scored on Austin Pinorini’s fielder’s choice. Matthew Butler added an RBI groundout later in the inning to give Cascade an early 2-0 lead.
The Bruins tacked on two more runs in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch and Casey Bergmans’ RBI single.
That was more than enough support for Brady. The left-hander was working on a no-hitter until the Spartans finally singled with two outs in the fourth.
“(Brady) pretty well dominated,” Stanwood head coach Colby Knudson said. “He looked really good and seemed to get stronger as the game went along.”
