Weekend fun: Big tricks, fiddles, whales, stage and more

On the slopes: Watch skiiers and snowboarders showing off their best tricks Saturday. The NW Flannel Cup, a slopestyle event, is at Stevens Pass. Practice is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the competition is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Get more info here.

Fiddlers: Hear the Northwest Scottish Fiddlers perform “The Airs and Tunes of the Windswept North” at the Everett Public Library at 2 p.m. Sunday. In addition to the music, there also will be singing and dancing. Free. Get more info here.

Now you see it … Illusionist and comedian Christian Ford will perform at Historic Everett Theatre at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Get more info in our story here.

Cabaret Night: The Northern Sound Choirs present a show at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the historic Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St. There will be musical numbers in a variety of styles. Light refreshments will be provided. $10. Get more info in our story here.

Whales: Gray whales are visiting the area right now. You can see them on a boat trip that leaves right from Everett. Get details in our story here.

On stage: The comedy “The Foreigner” is playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Everett Performing Arts Center. It’s the last weekend for the show. Read more in our story here.

Shop for kids: Shop for used children’s and maternity items from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Just Between Friends sale. It’s at Gold Creek Community Church, 4326 148th St. SE, Mill Creek. Get more info here.

Get growing: Red Barn Community Farm offers a free workshop on how to grow spring crops from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library’s Evergreen Branch, 9512 Evergreen Way, Everett.

Get into character: Citizens for the Camano Island Library is hosting the Great Storybook Jubilee to bring attention to the library’s funding problems. Families are invited to come dressed as favorite storybook characters for a contest and to participate in a storytime, crafts, scavenger hunt and prizes, free coffee and lunch, music and face painting. The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday near the Adventure Playground at Terry’s Corner.
