Northern Sound Choirs presents the choir Sonus Boreal in a “Cabaret Night,” a fundraising event on March 29 at the historic Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St.
Performances are at 3 p.m. and then again at 7 p.m. Saturday. Light refreshments are included. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $10 each. To reserve a ticket, send an email to northernsoundchoirs@gmail.com.
The concert includes musical numbers in various styles and genres by soloists and ensembles, as well as the full choir.
The Marysville Opera House is the perfect venue for a cabaret, said Northern Sound Choirs board member Codie Wyatt Clark.
“The Opera House has long been a supporter of arts in the community,” she said in a press release. “And it enables the choir to (present) a show in an intimate setting.”
The Sonus Boreal spring concert scheduled for May 18 will feature youth choirs from Marysville and Mount Vernon.
Also this spring, the choir plans to tour Vancouver, B.C.
Sonus Boreal is a women’s choir founded in 2010 by former high school students of former Marysville Pilchuck High School music teacher Stuart Hunt.
The Sonus Boreal choir most recently participated in the DeMiero Jazz Festival in Edmonds. They have performed at Everett AquaSox and Seattle Storm games, at Evergreen Speedway, the Leavenworth Tree Lighting Ceremony and festivals throughout the state.
The group aims to promote choral arts in Snohomish County, especially with music education in public schools, members said. More information is online at www.northernsoundchoirs.org.
