Join Pilchuck Audubon’s April birding excursions

Here are the trips scheduled for April:

April 1, Smith and Spencer islands: Meet at 8 a.m. at Langus Riverfront Park, Everett. Park in the lot under I-5 and past the shell house and Everett Animal Shelter. Trying for spring migrants along Langus Riverfront Trail. Pack a lunch. Trip leader: Virginia Clark, 360-435-3750 April 8, Everett waterfront: Meet at 8 a.m. at Legion Park, Everett. Easy trip south along the waterfront, sometimes all the way to Mukilteo. Pack a lunch. Trip leader: Art Wait, 360-563-0181

April 12, Monroe: Crescent Lake Wildlife Management Area. Also will visit the Monroe Prison Farm Pond. Discovery Pass needed. Meet at 8 a.m. at Everett Mall. Park near L.A. April 15, South Whidbey Island: Meet at 7:15 a.m. at Eastmont park-and-ride, I-5 Exit 189. Aiming for the 8 a.m. ferry from Mukilteo. View varied species at Crockett Lake and South Whidbey. Pack a lunch. Trip leader: Wilma Bayes, 360-629-2028

April 22, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge: Meet at 7:30 a.m. at Lynnwood Wal-Mart lot, 1400 164th St. SW (I-5 Exit 183). Park away from the store to the west. Refuge is 70 miles away. At the refuge we will need to walk several miles to fully experience the 200 species in the marshes, tide flats, grasslands and riparian woodlands. Pack a lunch for a long adventure. April 29, Montlake Fill (Union Bay Natural Area): Meet at 8 a.m. at Lynnwood Wal-Mart lot, 1400 164th St. SW (I-5 Exit 183). Park away from the store to the west. Many rarities have been observed here. May visit Foster Island, Magnuson Park and other areas of north Lake Washington. Pack a lunch. Trip Leader: Virginia Clark, 360-435-3750
