Winter is over. Before it’s forgotten, though, we want to share some of the beauty of the season. We asked you to share your best winter photos with us. We collected some of our favorites and then let Herald readers vote on them. Here are the five winners.
Ken Hughes took the photo above on Christmas morning at Wyatt County Park on Lake Stevens. He was heading home after dropping his son off to take the employee bus up to Stevens Pass. He saw that a good sunrise was likely, so he found a good spot and waited for the best light.
Marlee Huber took this photo near the golf course at Sun Peaks Resort north of Kamloops, B.C., in February during a ski trip with her family. When Huber takes photos, she says she likes to view the world with honor and regard. The day this photo was taken was brutally cold, but she barely noticed, she was so entranced taking photos. She says “For me, this photo is a resting spot from a busy and often brittle world like this week’s tragedy in Oso.”
Kelly Ezell took this photo of ice crystals near Bridgeport this year. Despite having thousands of dollars of photography gear, none of it was with him this day and he took the photo with his phone.
Randall Wayne took this photo of two bald eagles in a tree.
Greg Lucker took this icy photo along U.S. 2 near Startup. Lucker and his sister, Robyn Lucker Touby, who shared this photo, were on their way to visit an uncle in Gold Bar.
