SEATTLE — After a dry start to the winter, rain came back to Western Washington in February and made a big splash in March.
It’s been the wettest March on record at Sea-Tac Airport.
The National Weather Service said monthly rainfall at the airport broke the 1950 record of 8.40 inches on Friday and hit 9.44 inches on Saturday.
Meteorologist Johnny Burg said showers Sunday could add to the total but the month should end dry on Monday.
Typical rainfall for March at Sea-Tac Airport is 3.72 inches.
Burg said most other reporting stations in Western Washington are among the top ten on record for rainfall for the month.
