50 years ago (1964)
The Alpine Cafeteria in the south Everett B&M Shopping Center advertised complete dinners. On Friday, a grilled halibut steak dinner was $1.59. Spaghetti and meatballs were available Saturday for $1.59. The roast tom turkey dinner Sunday was $1.79.
Mount Pilchuck Ski Resort was staging a costume and obstacle race April 12. The competition was open to anyone between the ages of seven and 17. Race Chairman Wendell Carison said prizes would be offered. The first-place winner would receive a season’s pass for the Pilchuck chair lift.
25 years ago (1989)
Paul Peters and Kurt Morgan were well on their way to establishing a new world record for indoor archery. The men had shot 1,150 bull’s eyes out of 2,150 arrows in a 25-hour target practice shooting marathon held at the Gun Works &Archery HQ at 11714 Airport Road.
There was still time to enter the Stanwood Eagle Salmon Derby schedule for April 15-16. Tickets were available at Jerry’s Surplus and John’s Sporting Goods in Everett, the Stanwood Eagles, Stanwood Hotel Tavern and Ed’s Sport Shop in Mount Vernon.
