Colville police officer gets 2-year sentence for sex on duty

SPOKANE A man who had sex with several women while on duty as a Colville police officer was sentenced to more than two years in prison.
Rex Newport entered an Alford guilty plea in February admitting there was evidence to convict him on charges including unlawful imprisonment and custodial sexual misconduct.
The Spokesman-Review reported Wednesday several women told investigators Newport pulled them over on suspicion of driving while drunk, then had sex with them in secluded areas.
Newport must register as a sex offender after serving his 29-month sentence.
