Weekend fun: Benefit concerts, urban foraging, music, more

Derby: Tilted Thunder Rail Birds, a banked track roller derby league, has a bout at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Comcast Arena. Get more info and tickets here.

Musical tour: The Everett Chorale has a fun approach — a sort of artistic travelogue of Everett — for its Sunday concert, “We’re Going Uptown.” A slide show of Everett’s public art is to be accompanied by a variety of popular choral music chosen by director Lee Mathews.

Drip: Learn how to install a drip-irrigation system. You will save water and fertilizer and your plants will thrive. The free class is at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Plant Farm at Smokey Point.

Foraging: Urban forager Melany Vorass, author of “The Front-Yard Forager” will talk about identifying, finding and preparing edible weeds in an urban environment. Hear her talk at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library.

Discussing disasters: Natural disasters are top of mind right now. Susan Kiefer, a MacArthur “genius grant” winner and former professor of geology and physics, will give a talk on natural disasters and the possibilities of forecasting such events, at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Public Library. She’s the author of “The Dynamics of Disaster.” The talk is free at the library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett. Call 425-257-8000 with questions.

Jazz and blues: Northwest singer Mia Vermillion brings her chic jazz and sensual blues to Tim Noah’s intimate venue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Thumbnail Theater in Snohomish. Get more info in our story here.

Ballet: Olympic Ballet Theatre will perform “Coppelia,” the comedic story of a doll-maker who creates a lifelike dancing doll. The ballet will be performed in Everett at 2 p.m. Saturday. Get the details in our story here.

Spring music The Everett Philharmonic Orchestra will perform its gala fundraising event “Spring Fling,” at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Events Center Ballroom, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett. The music includes hits from Elvis, The Beatles, Beach Boys and Stevie Wonder. The event includes a gourmet dinner, dancing and an auction.
