Nominate Marysville homes, businesses for neighborhood improvement award
The awards recognize neighbors and business owners who take pride in their property in ways that enhances the appearance of the community.
The awards, now in their third year, are intended to encourage neighbors to improve their homes and landscapes. Business owners are recognized for the curb appeal of their business facade and location.
Nominees are judged on visual enhancement, preservation of the character of their area, improvements (building, landscaping, signage, etc.) or enhancement of the natural environment.
Best Home/Pride of the Neighborhood: Homes consistently well-kept with well-manicured lawns and colorful landscapes, or enhanced with new paint, landscaping or other significant aesthetic improvements.
Best Block/Neighborhood: Based on general/neighborhood entrance/gateway appeal and improvements made.
Best Business: Business sites with most curb appeal that have attractive landscaping, well-kept appearance, attractive facade, and are assets to their neighborhoods.
Mayor’s Choice: James Comeford Award to Downtown/Waterfront District Most Improved; can be a home or business.
Award winners are drawn from a pool of nominees, then chosen by a committee. The mayor names his winning selection from the same pool of candidates.
Nomination brochures are available on the city website at marysvillewa.gov/prideawards and can be completed and submitted online.
Brochures also are available at the Marysville City Hall, Public Works Department, Parks and Recreation office and Library.
Nominations also can be emailed with address, owner’s name and photos to Public Information Officer Doug Buell at email@example.com.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. June 6. Engraved metal yard or building markers are presented to winners during a recognition presentation at a future city council meeting.
