A Marysville select baseball organization wants to do its part to help victims of the recent Oso landslide.
The Marysville Baseball Association Hawks will host their annual camp for youngsters this Sunday at Cedarcrest Middle School in Marysville. The camp is usually free, but this year the organization is asking participants for donations, with all proceeds going to landslide victims.
“I think this whole thing just struck a chord with everybody,” said Lucy Hansen, a team parent. “Arlington and Marysville are very tight communities, and we all just wanted to try to do something for the Oso neighbors.”
Suitable donations “are anything people are willing to donate,” she said.
In addition, two Puget Sound-area businesses — the Montlake Fish Company and the Glacier Fish Company — have agreed to match the contributions up to $5,000. The Snohomish County Express softball team also is contributing to the fund-raising effort.
The camp, for players in Little League and up, is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The middle school is located at 6400 88th St. NE in Marysville.
Camp participants are requested to bring gloves, bats, cleats and hats, and are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather.
