I lived in Everett for 30 years before retiring to California. Recently, I was so sorry to hear that the beloved Pave bakery and restaurant closed in 2011. I worked in their kitchen cooking and baking for a couple of years. I was an eager student lovingly trained by Nan and Lil. I developed a great passion for cooking and baking while learning at Pave, and have applied my skills at many restaurants over the years.
Nan and Lil created a family atmosphere and there were always a lot of laughs and a constant parade through the tiny kitchen. They nurtured along many chefs and bakers who will, like me, always feel so grateful to them for their patience and sense of humor. Even when we burned something Lil would loudly say “perfect!”
I can’t imagine Colby without them.
Farewell old friends,
