A group of Stanwood residents and the United Way of Snohomish County, have scheduled a chili cook-off and raffle to benefit families and survivors of the Oso landslide from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center in Stanwood.
“If you grew up in this area, there’s no way you don’t know someone effected by the landslide,” said Craig Brask, event organizer and a Camano Island resident. “We had to find a way to do our part.”
Dennis G. Smith, president and CEO of United Way of Snohomish County said all donations and proceeds from the event will go directly to families and victims of the Oso landslide.
The event will also feature live music, a raffle of donations from local businesses and sponsors, face painting and various other family friendly activities.
Admission for the event will be free. A $5 donation is requested to sample and vote during the chili cook-off.
For more information on the event and to find out how to participate in the cook-off contact Craig Brask at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any donations prior to the cook-off can be made to United Way of Snohomish County by going to www.uwsc.org or mailing a check to United Way of Snohomish Count, Attn: Finance Dept., 3120 McDougall Ave., Ste. 200 Everett, WA 98201.
