EDMONDS — Trailing by two runs heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Edmonds-Woodway baseball team responded with three and held on to beat Kamiak 6-5 in a Wesco 4A South matchup Wednesday afternoon.
After a single by sophomore Brady Edwards tied the game at 5-5, Matt Gerhardt got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put across what would be the game-winning run.
“It was just a weird game, it was up-and-down the entire afternoon,” Edmonds-Woodway head coach Dan Somoza said.
Edwards pitched two innings of scoreless relief and earned the win for the Warriors. Edwards finished with five strikeouts and earned his first win of the season.
Senior Mac McLachlan finished 2-for-3 with two triples and an RBI to lead the Warriors offensively. Senior Alex Pettibone hit a double for Kamiak, the only extra base hit for the Knights.
