Several weeks ago we witnessed something that we felt compelled to share. For the past semester, our students in the Connections Special Education class at Olympic View Middle School have been saving their coffee stand money for a field trip to the Glacier Lanes Bowling Alley in Everett. However, having learned of the disaster in Oso, the class decided it would be better to donate what they had saved to the people of Oso. A call was placed to Glacier Lanes to cancel the students’ reservation. When the owner, Larry Miller, learned why the students were canceling he asked a simple question, “Can you still get here? We are all in this together and I would like to donate your bowling time.”
Glacier Lane’s generosity enabled the Connections students to still enjoy their reward and parlay their initial seed money into a school-wide fundraiser to continue to “pay it forward!”
Thank you so much Glacier Lanes!
Sincerely,
The Connections Staff
