Police open house: The Mountlake Terrace Police Department plans an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. May 15 at the police station, 5906 232nd St. SW.
The family-friendly event will begin with a memorial and color guard ceremony for fallen police officers. There also will be tours of the station, including police cars and the jail cell.Officers will be there to answer questions.

Senior center breakfast: The Mill Creek Senior Center has scheduled a fundraising breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Merrill Gardens Retirement Community. The meal is expected to include waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and fruit. The suggested donation is $10. Merrill Gardens is located at 14905 Bothell-Everett Highway in Mill Creek.
