I would like the mayor and city council to ask the Washington State Liquor Control Board to prohibit the sales of certain low-priced, highly alcoholic beverages in the downtown core of Everett. This downtown Everett core is subject to ongoing vagrancy, public intoxication, panhandling, individuals relieving themselves on sidewalks and alleyways plus other public nuisances, sometime resulting in threatening situation not only to the residents of the area but the vagrants themselves.
The cities of Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane and Olympia have all instituted “Alcohol Impact Areas” with success.
This is a very important tool and it’s time the mayor and city officials get on board and create a much need Alcohol Impact Area in Everett.
