Unfriended

In Soviet Russia, social network watches you. Oh wait, it does here, too: The Mark Zuckerberg of Russia has fled the country after posting what he says are demands from the Russian security services for details on users of Russia’s version of Facebook.

The secret police reportedly wanted info about anyone with ties to Ukraine, and also folks who fail to click “like” on photos of a bare-chested Vladimir Putin wrestling bears.

Olympian brew: Everett’s Scuttlebutt Brewing Co. won a gold medal in the 2014 World Beer Cup, a competition known as the “Olympics of Beer”.

Even though they drank a lot of beer, the judges were a lot less impaired than the people who gave the gold medal to the Russian skater at the Sochi games.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1970, the People’s Republic of China launched its first satellite, which continuously transmitted a song called “The East Is Red”.

Fearing the U.S. was falling behind in the Irritating-Ditties-in-Space Race, the Nixon administration ordered the launching of a satellite that broadcast “It’s A Small World.”
